Dexter P. Lyons

Portfolio Manager

Dexter earned his business degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1991. As the sole owner and co-founder of Horizon Capital Management (HCM), he has served as Senior Portfolio Manager since the firm’s launch in 1990.

Early in his career, Dexter successfully executed a tactical junk-bond timing strategy for Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), which he managed from 1990 through 2004. He then managed the HCM Freedom Fund from 2004 to 2014, focusing on maximizing gains while avoiding life-changing losses.

In 2014, he launched the Issachar Fund as an expression of his faith and commitment to biblical stewardship. The fund earned a prestigious 5-star rating in 2019 for effectively sidestepping a significant bear-market decline. Dexter’s ethical leadership was further recognized when he received the Integrity Award from the National Association of Christian Financial Consultants (NACFC) in 2020.

That same year, the Issachar Fund adopted the CANSLIM strategy—a disciplined, growth-focused approach designed to identify leading stocks with strong fundamentals and technical strength.

In 2025, Dexter closed the Fund to focus exclusively on managing SMAs, allowing for greater flexibility and the potential for stronger performance without the regulatory constraints of a mutual fund structure. He has also eliminated any conflicts of interest by investing all of his family’s money in the same three Models used for client portfolios.

With more than 35 years of investment experience, Dexter brings a seasoned, risk-aware perspective to navigating market cycles—seeking to capture upside in bull markets while protecting capital in bear markets.

Dexter is a follower of Jesus, a devoted husband of 32-plus years, and a committed family man who loves people and seeks to honor God by faithfully stewarding the relationships and resources entrusted to him.

Connor P. Lyons

Connor earned a Bachelor’s Marketing degree from LSU in 2023. His career began with managing individual investment accounts, focusing on the CANSLIM strategy, developed by William O’Neil. He specializes in identifying growth companies with strong and rapidly accelerating earnings and sales. While he typically takes a medium- to long-term approach —holding positions for weeks, months, or even years —Connor remains flexible, always ready to adjust his portfolio quickly when fundamental changes occur.

After investing, passions include health and fitness, golf, entertaining, and LSU sports.

Cade P. Lyons

Cade graduated in 2025 from ULL Summa Cum Laude in the Honors Program with a Major in Finance and a Minor in Investments and Portfolio Management. He has been actively trading and managing a portfolio, with risk management as the top priority, since November 2023. He uses William O’Neil’s CANSLIM system, which combines fundamental and technical analysis. He uses fundamental earnings and sales, along with the story of growth stocks, to identify which ones to focus on. He then uses technical analysis of stock charts to identify optimal risk-to-reward opportunities, maximizing profits and minimizing losses. Primarily, he holds stocks for days to weeks, sometimes for months. The trading system he uses relies heavily on overall market direction, which can affect the likelihood of success. Consistently monitoring growth stocks will tell him when to increase or reduce his investments, which is the key to his success.

Outside of his financial pursuits, Cade enjoys golf and spending time with friends, family, and his dog, Murphy.
